We are Tracie and Lorina and both of us are living in Germany near Frankfurt am Main. We love the outdoors, photography and travel and while all this will be part of our blog we also want to write about our roots and our traditions which we feel very connected to. After thinking what to call our blog for a long time, we finally concluded that “Offbeat Roots” would be the perfect name as we want to write about our roots, our traditions and customs in an offbeat and alternative way. We believe just because it’s old does not mean it’s boring.
Tracie was born in Ireland and loves to travel and taking photographs of the pretty things in live. Most of the pictures you will see on this page are shot and edited by Tracie. Lorina was born in Germany and lived abroad for a few years. She enjoys travelling just as much as Tracie and she loves cooking and baking with a special interest in keeping old recipes alive and traditions from Germany as well as Ireland. We also love to read and there might be the occasional book review.
With this blog we also want to try and show you a little of “our” world. We love going to markets and smaller venues. We believe it is important to support smaller communities and hope to be able to show you some of our favourite places, shops, restaurants and events.
That’s it for now, we hope you enjoy our blog!

You can carry your roots with you, and decide where they grow.”
